About us
Why We Built This Site
In 2019, two of our team members — both long-time online casino players and one a former account manager at a European gaming operator — were comparing notes on how unreliable casino affiliate content had become.
Sites were awarding “Best Casino” badges to operators with 60-day withdrawal queues. Wagering requirements were being reported as “35×” when they were actually 35× combined deposit and bonus. Bonus amounts were advertised without the mandatory minimum deposit being disclosed anywhere on the page.
New Zealand players were particularly underserved — most review sites are built for the Australian or UK market and treat NZD as an afterthought, ignore local payment methods, and miss nuances specific to the New Zealand gambling environment.
So we built this. A site written by people who actually play, tested by people who have worked in the industry, and edited by someone whose background is in consumer journalism — not marketing copy.
How We Test Every Casino
Every casino we cover is tested with a real NZD account. We do not write from press releases or marketing materials. Here is exactly what we check.
Step 2: Game Library Check
We play a cross-section of games: at least 5 pokies, 1 live dealer table, and 1 table game. We check load times, mobile rendering, and whether advertised games are actually available to NZ players.
Step 3: Bonus Verification
We claim the welcome bonus and read every line of the Terms. We verify: wagering requirement (on bonus only or combined?), max bet rule, game eligibility, expiry, and withdrawal cap. We never publish a bonus we haven’t personally verified.
Step 4: Support Testing
We contact support 3 times with different query types — a simple factual question, a bonus dispute scenario, and a withdrawal enquiry. We measure response time, accuracy, and whether the agent seems to actually read our message.
Step 5: Withdrawal Test
We request a withdrawal and time it. This is the single most important test — many casinos that look fine in every other dimension fall apart here. We document exactly how many days it takes and whether KYC was handled fairly.
Step 6: Licence & Safety Check
We verify the licence is real by checking directly with the issuing authority. We check SSL, responsible gambling tool availability, and whether the casino appears on any international blacklists.

Our Team
We use pen names to protect our ability to test casinos as anonymous players. Our real identities are known to our legal counsel. Here is who we are.
Lena holds a postgraduate qualification in counselling psychology and joined in 2023 to lead our responsible gambling content. She writes and researches all problem gambling guides, maintains our support resource directory, and ensures our self-assessment tools are clinically grounded.
Our Editorial Independence Policy
We earn affiliate commission when you register at a casino through our links. This is how we fund the site. We want to be completely transparent about how this works and why we believe it does not compromise our independence.
Affiliate commission is paid by casinos on a revenue share or CPA basis. We do not receive higher commissions in exchange for higher ratings, positive reviews, or suppression of negative findings. We have turned down several commission deals from casinos we rated below 6/10 rather than publish a misleadingly positive review.
Our reviews are written before any affiliate deal is agreed. Rating and content are determined by our testing process, not our commercial relationship with the operator. If we find serious problems with a casino after publishing, we update the review — even if it means reduced commission.
What You Will Find on This Site
This site covers Ruby Fortune Casino specifically — in far more depth than any general casino comparison portal.
Contact the Team
We read every email and respond to all serious enquiries. If you have found an error in our content, have a tip about a casino’s behaviour, or want to share a player experience — we genuinely want to hear from you.
We do not accept guest posts, paid placements, or “partnership opportunities” that involve changing our editorial content. Outreach emails of this type are not answered.
About Us — Questions
Are you actually independent from Ruby Fortune Casino?
Yes. This site is operated independently by an affiliate publisher. We are not owned by, employed by, or in an exclusive arrangement with the casino operator. We earn commission when you register via our links — we disclose this openly. Our editorial content is written and edited before any commercial arrangement is made with an operator, and commission structure has no influence on ratings or review content.
How often do you update your content?
Bonus information and promotions are verified monthly — casino bonus terms change frequently and outdated bonus information is one of the most harmful forms of inaccuracy in this space. Game library and payment information is reviewed quarterly. Our full casino review is re-tested annually or sooner if we receive significant player feedback or a regulatory event occurs.
Can I submit a tip or player complaint?
Yes, and we actively encourage it. If you have a withdrawal problem, a complaint about a casino, or information that contradicts something on our site — please email [email protected]. Player experiences have led us to update ratings and in one case to remove a casino from our recommended list entirely. Every submission is read by a human team member.
Why do you use pen names?
Our ability to test casinos as ordinary players depends on not being recognised. If a casino identifies that an account belongs to a reviewer, they may expedite withdrawals, offer special treatment, or flag the account. Using pen names protects the integrity of our testing. Our real identities are known to our legal counsel. We are happy to verify credentials to any accredited journalist or regulatory body on request.
Is this site licensed or regulated?
This is an affiliate information and review website, not a casino operator. Affiliate websites of this nature are not required to hold a gambling licence in New Zealand — only the casino operator is licensed. We operate in compliance with New Zealand consumer protection law, including the Fair Trading Act, and follow the Privacy Act 2020 in our handling of visitor data.
